  • MOCK INTERVIEW: The Frederick P. Widdon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama (USACOM) will host a virtual mock assessment interviews for SOPHOMORE Pre-medical students on April 18 and 19th. Students can come by 200 Clark Hall and sign up for an interview time.
  • MOCK INTERVIEW: Dr. Carley McKenzie, Assistant Dean of Admissions at UAB School of Dentistry will host mock assessment interviews both in-person and virtually during the month of April. Sign ups for this opportunity will be in 200 Clark Hall. This is for pre-dental students with a Sophomore standing.
  • COURSE HIGHLIGHT: CHS 230 Medical Shadowing is a course that can be taken by application only. Applications close Sunday, April 2nd. Here is the link to the application.
  • COURSE HIGHLIGHT: MKT 493 Special Topics in Marketing is offered Fall 2023. Students in the course will work with health professionals to use marketing to improve the healthcare of rural communities.
  • ADVISING SERVICES UPDATE: It’s peak advising season! This means that appointments for prehealth advisors fill up quickly. If you want/need to meet with a prehealth advisor, you are encouraged to use our drop-in advising option. There is a prehealth advisor available for drop-in (no appointment needed) advising every Monday through Thursday from 1:00pm to 3:15pm. Drop-in advising ends for the spring semester on May 4, 2023.
  • ADVISING SERVICES UPDATE: Advising appointments with prehealth advisor from May 8-August 11 will be available by request only. Email prehealth@ua.edu during this timeframe if you would like to set up an appointment.
  • Our prehealth advising team is changing (again)! We have a new advisor on our team and there are now FIVE prehealth advisors! Mrs. Lacey Borden joined our advising team this month and she is excited to get started working with prehealth students. Look for updates to our advising structure and services for the 2023-2023 school year in the first Fall 2023 newsletter.
  • WORDS OF WISDOM: Reflect on your professional school application and where it stands as of today. Do you need more shadowing? Volunteering? Leadership? Research? Design a plan and address those areas to allow you to strengthen your professional, interpersonal, and intellectual capital.
